The Caravan Gallery has been commissioned by One Manchester to create a participatory exhibition celebrating Openshaw and its people and we need your help! We’re thrilled to be working in partnership with Manchester Settlement who have kindly agreed to host the exhibition in a specially constructed wooden pavilion that will be situated behind the Roundhouse. Please bring along anything with an Openshaw connection that we can display in the exhibition – this could be your own arts and crafts inspired by Openshaw, photos, artefacts, memorabilia and stories about the area. Make your mark on our People’s Map of Openshaw, share some fascinating facts about where you live, as well as your hopes and dreams for Openshaw in the future. If you fancy getting creative we’ll even help you make your own postcards and souvenirs of Openshaw. As if this isn’t exciting enough already, we’ll be exhibiting our own images of Openshaw and some British classics  in our unique and internationally famous gallery on wheels, The Caravan Gallery!

A walk along the canal in Openshaw.

We’ve already met lots of wonderful people in Openshaw since our first visit way back in November 2019 before Covid scuppered our plans and are so happy this exhibition is finally happening.

Project partners: One Manchester, Manchester Settlement, StepUpMCR, MCRactive, The Salvation Army Openshaw.
