Here at The Caravan Gallery HQ we are busily planning our forthcoming Cardiff Pride of Place Project, Cardiff Caravan Gallery Tour and touring exhibition extra{ordinary} – Photographs of Britain by The Caravan Gallery, this time as part of Diffusion Festival.
Following the wonderful success of both our Sunderland and Bradford Pride of Place Projects we are now working on our Pride of Place Project commemorative publications, celebrating the varied and rich material gathered from our many contributors. Each Pride of Place Project created a refreshingly honest and thought provoking art exhibition-cum-alternative-information-centre in each of the hub venues. Every commemorative book in the series will include information we gathered from our Visitors’ Surveys, The People’s Wall, The People’s Map and Local Lexicon, alongside our own photographs of Sunderland, Bradford, and all our forthcoming venues. The Pride of Place Project books will form part of the legacy of each of these truly unique exhibitions and the project as a whole, and will be available to purchase in the near future.
We are also pleased to announce that Pride of Place Project Supporters’ Groups have been set up via Facebook in both Sunderland and Bradford, to continue to build upon and bring together the creative community (see the links at the bottom of this blog entry to join the groups).
As previously mentioned, we are now preparing for, and very excited about our future adventures in Cardiff. Our Cardiff Pride of Place Project kicks off at the beginning of October at The Abacus, St Davids House, Wood Street, Cardiff. There will be plenty of opportunity to come along, meet us and get involved. We’re really looking forward to exploring Cardiff and discovering what the people of Cardiff think about their city and surrounding area.
Our Cardiff Pride of Place Project Photo Competition is now open for entries and all competition details can be found here. We have already received some early entries which can be viewed on the dedicated Photo Competition blogsite: www.thecaravangalleryphotocomp.blogspot.com. The deadline for entries is midnight on 20th September, so grab your cameras and get snapping! Alongside the opportunity to win one of our prizes, selected photographs will be printed and displayed in the Cardiff Pride of Place Project exhibition.
Several dates and venues have been confirmed for The Cardiff Caravan Gallery Tour and more dates will be announced soon, along with further information regarding the Diffusion Festival venue for our national touring exhibition extra{ordinary}.
We hope to see you soon in a venue in and around Cardiff. In the meantime, if you are in the Bradford area, you still have a few more days to see our exhibition extra{ordinary} at Impressions Gallery, Centenary Square Bradford (until 29th August).
