SIGNAL FILM & MEDIA have commissioned THE CARAVAN GALLERY (artists and photographers Jan Williams & Chris Teasdale) to create a participatory project celebrating Barrow-in-Furness for WEST COAST PHOTO FESTIVAL .
Between 20 March and 18 April, with your help, The Caravan Gallery will turn ARC Space (the former ‘Believe in Barrow’ premises) next to the market entrance into a dynamic exhibition-cum- alternative visitor information celebrating Barrow in all its multifaceted glory! The Caravan Gallery’s own colourful photographs of the ordinary and extraordinary details of everyday life in Barrow will set the scene, while the rest of the exhibition will grow daily as visitors add their own contributions.
Show us what Barrow means to you by bringing along your Barrow-related artwork in any medium as well as any objects and ephemera that might be of interest – the weirder the better! Loaned items will be exhibited, documented and returned after the exhibition has ended. Make your mark on our People’s Map of Barrow and share your stories, memories, fascinating facts and hopes for the future. See postcards from the Sankey Archive and be inspired to make your own in our drop-in our creative workshops. Local photographer Brian Moxham of Pepperland Collect will also be exhibiting in the space. See the full festival programme here:
